S. Maria in Calanca

From Bellinzona railway station you first follow the Ticino river and then the Moesa to the village of Roveredo and then start the ascent via Nadro to the sunny and panoramic terrace of Castaneda.

 

The highest point of the tour is S.Maria in Calanca and a short stop to visit the church of S.Maria Assunta and the adjacent medieval tower is reccomended.

 

On the way back, passing through Verdabbio, you head for the grotti of Cama; you can't miss tasting the fragrant Mesolcina ham accompanied by a good glass of local wine.

 

The route continues along mainly dirt tracks and through Roveredo, Lumino and Arbedo.
